Southside Johnny, Little Steven, Pat DiNizio-Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ
Yesterday I went back to my old stomping ground, Asbury Park, NJ and to one of my favorite clubs in the world-The Stone Pony-to see Southside Johnny, an Asbury Park legend. He performed Little Steven's album, "Men Without Women" in its entirety and then went on to perform all his classics, making the thousands of people inside plus all those lined up on the boardwalk very happy. Southside never disappoints, and last night was no exception. Little Steven joined him for several songs and Vincent Pastore (Big Pussy from the Sopranos) even sang back up.
Kudos to saxophone player Ed Manion for an absolutely BEAUTIFUL tribute to Clarence Clemons from the E Street Band who recently passed away. Ed performed Clarence's solo from "Jungleland" and there wasn't a dry eye in the place.
Pat DiNizio from The Smithereens opened the show and he was, as always, fantastic.
The only thing missing last night, for me, was Kevin Kavanaugh on keyboards. RIP Kevin
