Coldplay rocks The Today Show's Summer Concert Series-June 27, 2008
WOW!
That's all I can say after shooting Coldplay today on The Today Show's Summer Concert Series from Rockefeller Plaza. Earlier in the week, the photo op at Madison Square Garden was pretty awful. Not only that, it clogged my interpretation of their performance. Today on "The Today Show," Coldplay rocked like no one else other than Bruce Springsteen last September. They played a mini concert-not the usual 15 or so minutes most bands play here but for close to 40 minutes. Lead singer Chris Martin didn't forget anyone in the audience. He left the stage and walked over towards 49th Street for the fans across the street who could only hear. Perched high atop a speaker, he made sure everyone back that way was able to see him. Then, he went far back to the fans at 48th Street and did the same thing. There were thousands of fans all around Rockefeller Plaza today and not one of them left disappointed.
I have seen and photographed thousands of performers and Coldplay ranks amongst the top when it comes to live performances.
Here is a selection of images from that the NY Daily News ran in a gallery:

Coldplay Live on Concert-Madison Square Garden, June 23, 2008
great idea-Coldplay gave a free concert for their fans at Madison Square Garden
from a photographer's point of view, this was one of the all time WORST concerts to shoot. The lighting was awful, the stage was higher than ever before, lead singer Chris Martin was everywhere but near the photographers in the pit and we were allowed to shoot songs 4-5.
I could never understand why bands even allow photographers if they are going to pull crap like we endured tonight.
Just awful.
NY Premiere of "Kit Kittredge: An American Girl" -Ziegfield Theater, June 19, 2008
starring the adorable and talented Abigail Breslin ("Little Miss Sunshine". Julia Roberts was the producer and she walked the red carpet VERY FAST with her sister. As usual, Julia never took off her sunglasses.
Other guests included Jane Krakowski, Julia Ormond, Chris O'Donnell, Jada Pinkett Smith and her kids Willow and Jaden, and the Clique Girlz

Bo Diddley, 1928-2008
DIDDLEY DEAD AT 79
Rock n' roll pioneer BO DIDDLEY has died from heart failure, aged 79.
The legendary singer passed away on Monday (02Jun08) at his home in Archer, Florida after a long battle with ill health, his spokeswoman Susan Clary has confirmed.
The rocker, born Ellas Bates, suffered a heart attack last August (07), just three months after being struck down by a stroke during his tour of Iowa.
The star is often credited as a key figure in the transition from blues to rock n' roll and was best known for his homemade square guitar, dark glasses and black hat and his signature "shave and a haircut, two bits" rhythm.
He influenced a whole generation of musicians with his innovative use of the electric guitar, including Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix and Bruce Springsteen.
He won a Grammy Award for Lifetime Achievement in 1999 and was an inductee of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Some of his biggest hits include I'm a Man, You Can't Judge a Book by Its Cover, Mona, Bo Diddley and Shave and a Haircut.
